Kevin Bracey 87396e0bf6 Assembler atomics 
Reimplement atomic code in inline assembly. This can improve
optimisation, and avoids potential architectural problems with using
LDREX/STREX intrinsics.

API further extended:
* Bitwise operations (fetch_and/fetch_or/fetch_xor)
* fetch_add and fetch_sub (like incr/decr, but returning old value -
  aligning with C++11)
* compare_exchange_weak
* Explicit memory order specification
* Basic freestanding template overloads for C++

This gives our existing C implementation essentially all the functionality
needed by C++11.

An actual Atomic<T> template based upon these C functions could follow.

Deepika feba293673 Update linker script for using SRAM1 and SRAM2 in ARM 
To have the flexibilty in application; to use any of the section
    (data/bss/heap) without updating linker script in every use case,
    following decisions are made:
    1. Fixed size and small sections moved to SRAM2 (32K)
        Vectors
        Crash data
        Remaining section - RW / ZI
    2. Large memory space should be used for variable sections
       RW/ZI
       Heap - (Minimum - 0x12000)
       Stack - At bottom

Deepika 3593444e93 Add support of heap memory split between 2-RAM banks. 
Please note the heap address of the both the banks must not be contigious else
GCC considers it to be single memory bank and does allocation across the banks,
which might result into hard-fault

    Remaining section - Heap memory
2. Large memory space should be used for variable sections
   Data
   BSS
   Heap - Remaining section

Heap is moved to the end of both sections as GCC allocates till 4K boundary,
if end of heap is not aligned to 4K, that chunk of memory will go unutilized

ARM_LIB_HEAP start is aligned to IRAM1 end, hence should be placed next to
RW_IRAM1 i.e. no other region in between.

Internal channels use is enabling ADC "internal path" which needs
to be disabled after measurement.

Same applied here for WB family as was done for others in #10143.

RNG on the other hand is shared with M0+ core and it is expected that

Laurent Meunier a744343931 STM32WB: disable debug lines when not needed 
When doing so, do not disbale GPIO clocks as they may be used by other
drivers !

As a result, debug will be disabled by default, but can be enabled by
either modifying code or selecting MBED debug profile.

Laurent Meunier 718b16545c STM32WB: update deep sleep sequence 
Review HSE clock initialization to match with latest CUBE firmware.
Also there is no need to set the full clock tree again after deep sleep exit.

With this change we get a stable deep sleep mode (when allowed by CORDIO stack).

Laurent Meunier 002f40dd3a STM32WB: ARM linker script update 
There is no need to add FIRST attribute to MAPPING_TABLE as the default
ordering is alphabetical order.

With this change, we don't have any warning with MBED2 and the sections
are properly ordered anyway in BLE cases.

Laurent Meunier f2580c1c4a STM32WB: Fix ARM link error in mbed2 
In case of mbed2, BLE feature is not built.

As there is a MAPPING_TABLE in BLE feature which is not compiled in case
of mbed2, the linker reported the below error

.link_script.sct", line 65 (column 6): Error: L6236E:
No section matches selector - no section to be FIRST/LAST.

Solution is to check whether BLE is enabled.

Laurent Meunier 27e7e4d9df NUCLEO_WB55RG: Rework Clock and sleep support 
- move hw_conf.h file to targets/TARGET_STM/TARGET_STM32WB directory as
this is used also out of BLE feature.
- create a dedicated hal_deepsleep function as the behavior in WB is a lot
different from other existing STM32 targets
- update clock tree configuration to directly clock the entire tree @ 32MHz
out of HSE. This is needed as we want to let the M0 core running without
any change on M0-side of clocks when M4 enters /exits deep sleep.

data to it. This ensures that values set from the previous use
do not effect the current configuration.

Russ Butler 86e1d436e7 Alternate implementation of HAL_PCD_EP_Abort 
Update the patch "Create HAL_PCD_EP_Abort" to fix bugs.
This patch adds the low level functions USB_EPStopXfer, USB_EPSetNak,
USB_EPClearNak and the high level function HAL_PCD_EP_Abort so that
transfers can be stopped.

The functions USB_EPSetNak and USB_EPClearNak allow nak to be enabled
or disabled for an endpoint, preventing or allowing further transfers.

The function USB_EPStopXfer stops pending reads and writes started by
USB_EPStartXfer along with clearing and masking any interrupts enabled
by USB_EPStartXfer.

The function HAL_PCD_EP_Abort aborts any transfers on the given
endpoint. When this function completes the transfer interrupt
is guarenteed not to fire for this endpoint. Furthermore, the size
of data transferred during an aborted read can be found by calling
the function HAL_PCD_EP_GetRxCount.

Other notes on this Change:

1.
Prior to this patch the interrupt USB_OTG_DOEPINT_EPDISD was not
handled. When an OUT endpoint was disabled this interrupt occurred
causing the CPU to get stuck repeatedly handling this interrupt. This
is because this interrupt was unmasked but nothing cleared this
interrupt. This patch also adds code to handle and clear this
interrupt to prevent a lockup.

2.
Stopping a transfer on an OUT endpoint requires global nak OUT to
be in effect. Even with this being done, having entries in the rx fifo
prevented an OUT endpoint from being disabled. This behavior is not
mentioned in the Reference Manual.

Two new block properties available in linker configuration files:
"expanding size" and "minimum size" for IAR 8.11.2 and above

Sample:
define block HEAP with expanding size, minimum size = 16K, alignment = 8 {};

This block will expand to consume all remaining available space in
the range where it is placed. If several such blocks end up in the same
range, they will share the remaining space.
Cannot place a block with expanding size inside another block with
expanding size, inside a block with maximum size, or inside an overlay.

Deepika e522c4691e Target_STM:_sbrk updated to use limits from linker files no need to set defines 
_sbrk uses the exports from linker file __end and __HeapLimit to allocate memory
in heap. Linker scripts were updated accordingly to set the limits.

Kevin Bracey 535b439362 Revert "STM32 RTC : skip rtc_write if possible" 
`rtc_write` must start the RTC. `time()` uses `rtc_write(0)` to start
the RTC if it is not already enabled, but this check made that not
work.

There's no point trying to optimise this case in a HAL - if we wanted
`set_time()` to protect against users making pointless adjustments, the
implementation should be there. But even then, you might want different
levels of hysteresis depending on application, so it's probably best
left to applications.

This reverts commit 9da5e48941.

The DEVICE_FOO macros are always defined (either 0 or 1).

This patch replaces any instances of a define check on a DEVICE_FOO
macro with value test instead.

Small space savings, the casting from int to float will bloat
the code a bit. Using wait(1.0f) for example would avoid it,
but seems a bit silly to use floats for anything unless
really needed (in embedded products).

Deepika 37bfc9e5e3 Reposition heap at the end of RAM to be 4K aligned 
HEAP memory should be 4K aligned for GCC newlib, with ISR stack at the end of
RAM memory we loose 3K of RAM memory. This fix is for device with <16K RAM to
use RAM entirely.

Deepika f549f14a0a Set ISR stack and heap sizes for low end devices 
Set the ISR stack to be 1KB. https://github.com/ARMmbed/mbed-os/pull/7238
Set the heap size to 3KB(2KB + overhead + spare) so that atleast 2KB free ram is
available for testing.
With dynamic heap size, explicit size is not required. IAR 7.8 supports
static heap, hence the change is needed in IAR linker files.

This fix avoid a long waiting loop in rtc_write function,
  which was not acceptable in TICKLESS context.

Implementation comments added.

Global variable name has been updated for easier maintenance:
- LPTICKER_counter is the U32 continuous tick counter
- LPTICKER_RTC_time is the RTC time used to get the time difference
   between rtc_read_lp() calls

Need to ensure the transmission has been started before sending a STOP condition.

Issue found on the NUCLEO_H743ZI due certainly to the high-speed clock used.

But this is normally needed also on all STM32 devices using the I2C peripheral version 2.

jeromecoutant 9bc2e5a5ad STM32 LPTICKER with RTC : Fix tickless and lp wrapper 
When both tickless and LPTICKER_DELAY_TICKS are enabled some ST
devices randomly get stuck sleeping forever. This is because the
wake up time passed to the rtc is ignored if the previous match is
about to occur. This causes the device to get stuck in sleep.

This patch prevents matches from getting dropped by the rtc by
deactivating the rtc wake up timer before setting a new value.

Events leading up to this failure for the RTC:

-1st call to lp_ticker_set_interrupt
-delay until ticker interrupt is about to fire
-2nd call to lp_ticker_set_interrupt
-interrupt for 1st call fires and match time for 2nd call is dropped
-LowPowerTickerWrapper gets ticker interrupt but treats it as a
 spurious interrupt and drops it since it comes in too early
-device enters sleep without a wakeup source and locks up

They are then replaced by functions that saved counters in HW registers.

Russ Butler e2d003a420 Fix memory allocation on STM32L4 devices 
Depending on initial size allocated on STM32L4 devices with
TWO_RAM_REGIONS  set a crash may occur. This is because there is a
mismatch between the size newlib is expecting and the size actually
returned by _sbrk. This is because the STM32L4 implementation of _sbrk
is performing alignment internally.

This patch fixes this problem by removing the code in __wrap__sbrk
which performs the alignment.

Markus Siglreithmaier 97fef1160c STM32L4: Fix sleep implementation 
Correctly detect and handle the low power run mode when entering and exiting sleep mode.

The generic `hal_sleep` implementation tries to exit LPR mode always, resulting in a spin-loop during a critical section (disabled IRQ).
The new approach returns from LPR to Run mode if enabled (LPR bit set), enters sleep, and resets to the original state on wakeup (WFI).

Laurent Meunier 402f3f1c3f STM32: check for UART ongoing transfers before entering deepsleep 
As suggested by Russ Butler in mbed-os issue #7328, and until there is an
implementation of mbed-os issue #4408, we are implementing a workaround
at HAL level to check if there is any ongoing serial transfer (which happens
if HW FIFO is not yet empty).

In case a transfer is ongoing, we're not entering deep sleep and
return immediately.

These registers were accessed through shadow registers which are synchronized with PCLK1 (APB1 clock).
They are now accessed directly in order to avoid waiting for the synchronization duration.

There are cases where a call hal_deepsleep would overflow the idle task
stack, especially in developper or debug profile.

In order to avoid this case, we split ForceClockOutofDeepSleep
into two separate functions the two structure RCC_ClkInitStruct and
RCC_OscInitStruct are not allocated at the same time.

Laurent MEUNIER c3d5daf80a Update STM32 16 bits us_tickers in line with new mbed HAL 
The new HAL allows to share the timer bit width and frequency,
the actual handling of mapping 16 bits counter up to 32 bits or
64 bits is now managed by mbed common layer.

This makes this ticker layer very similar to 32bits one and much
easier than before.

Laurent MEUNIER 3d92af50ce Add delay to let clock stabilize when out of deep sleep 
Tests have shown that there is hich-up on MSI clock during the setup phase.
If this stabilization phase happens when application has restarted again
this can have side effects, like grambled UART characters typically.

So we're adding a delay before hading-over back to application.

With this modification, on NCULEO_L476RG, the wake-up time is increased
from 2ms to 2,5ms.
If possible this should be improved in the future to save 500 microseconds
of wak-up time.  See TODO

Laurent MEUNIER 8007b1df7c Use temporarily MSI or HSI when exiting Deep Sleep 
There are cases where HW registers are found in unpexcepted state when
exiting Deep Sleep only few micro-seconds after it was entered.

By using an internal clock that does not depend on anythin and clocking
the system without using PLL, this allows SetSysClock default configuration
to run fine whatever possible configuration we find the HW in when
exiting Deep Sleep.

Also we shall restore interrupts only after all cloks are back to
expected running state.

Rob Meades c53fb9dc64 Call i2c_init() before i2c_frequency() (since i2c_frequency() requires the object to be set up) and zero the I2C object before giving it to i2c_init() as i2_init() has to set up a default frequency for its timeouts to work and it will only do this if the hz field in the object was zero to begin with (otherwise you end up with a random but usually very large indeed timeout). 2018-03-01 14:52:42 +00:00

We propose to allow user to use LPTIM for MBED LowPowerTimer API instead of using RTC wakeup timers.

Kevin Bracey 05e2ae7a70 Add memory barriers to STM32F7xx Ethernet 
Pending official update from STM, add memory barriers to the Ethernet
HAL code for the STM32F7xx family.

Cortex-M7 has a merging write buffer that is not automatically flushed
by accesses to devices, so without these DMBs, we sometimes lose synch
with the transmitter.

The DMBs are architecturally needed in every version of this HAL, but
adding just to the STM32F7 version for now to clear test, as the
problem has only been observed on Cortex-M7-based devices.

Fixes #5622.

bcostm bfc4d68ae0 STM32 CAN3: remove test of CAN_2 and CAN_3 
CAN_2 and CAN_3 are enum and not #define and this causes compilation error with GCC_ARM

Instead put back the test of CAN_NUM (which are defined in can_device.h).

- serial_init, serial_free and serial_baud function moved from serial_device.c (specific to each STM32 family) to serial_api.c (common STM32 file)
- default baudrate value was hardcoded to 9600
  - Value is set now to MBED_CONF_PLATFORM_STDIO_BAUD_RATE for STDIO
  - Value is set now to MBED_CONF_PLATFORM_DEFAULT_SERIAL_BAUD_RATE for other use
- UART init will not be stopped before calling serial_baud function

Laurent MEUNIER 839bd642d0 STM32: SPI 3 wires mode not supported in SPI slave 
This patch handles the case of SPI slave mode without MISO (NC).
In case MISO is not connected, we consider that SPI will be configured in
3 wires mode (CLK / MOSI / CS, but no MISO). In this case, the MOSI line
is bi-directional : SPI_DIRECTION_1LINE.

But as this is not supported yet in slave mode, we force it to
SPI_DIRECTION_2LINES. In this case slave SPI will receive data on MOSI
but nothing will be sent back to master as MISO is not connected.
