Update an existing dashboard variable's name or JSON content in the InfluxDB user interface (UI).

### Update a variable
|
|
|
|
1. Click the **Settings** icon in the navigation bar.
|
|
|
|
{{< nav-icon "settings" >}}
|
|
|
|
2. Select the **Variables** tab.
|
|
3. Click on a variable's name from the list.
|
|
4. Update the variable's name, type, and associated information.
|
|
5. Click **Submit**.
|
