--- layout: documentation title: WD500Z-1 - ZWave --- {% include base.html %} # WD500Z-1 Wall Dimmer Switch This describes the Z-Wave device *WD500Z-1*, manufactured by *Linear Corp* with the thing type UID of ```linear_wd500z_00_000```. The device is in the category of *Wall Switch*, defining Any device attached to the wall that controls a binary status of something, for ex. a light switch. ![WD500Z-1 product image](https://opensmarthouse.org/zwavedatabase/6/image/) The WD500Z-1 supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is also able to participate in the routing of data between other devices in the mesh network. ## Overview 500W, 120 VAC Wall Mounted Dimmer ### Inclusion Information Pushing the top or bottom of the switch, the WD500Z-1 allows the user to include or exclude the module from the Z-Wave network. ### Exclusion Information Pushing the top or bottom of the switch, the WD500Z-1 allows the user to include or exclude the module from the Z-Wave network. ### General Usage Information The default Command Poll Period of 1500ms can cause issues with state updating properly after a remote command is received due to the transition period between states of around 2.5s. This manifests as a switch turned fully off in real life, but showing as 50% on in the OpenHAB UI. Recommended to update this setting to > 2500ms to provide more consistent results. ## Channels The following table summarises the channels available for the WD500Z-1 -: | Channel Name | Channel ID | Channel Type | Category | Item Type | |--------------|------------|--------------|----------|-----------| | Dimmer | switch_dimmer | switch_dimmer | DimmableLight | Dimmer | ### Dimmer The brightness channel allows to control the brightness of a light. It is also possible to switch the light on and off. The ```switch_dimmer``` channel is of type ```switch_dimmer``` and supports the ```Dimmer``` item and is in the ```DimmableLight``` category. ## Device Configuration The following table provides a summary of the 6 configuration parameters available in the WD500Z-1. Detailed information on each parameter can be found in the sections below. | Param | Name | Description | |-------|-------|-------------| | 1 | Dim Start Level | Start dimming from that start level or current level | | 3 | LED Indication | The WD500Z-1 will flicker its LED when it is transmitting to any of its groups. | | 4 | Invert Switch | Reverse switch direction | | 14 | Enable Shade Control Group 2 | The switch can control shade control devices if this parameter is set to 1 | | 15 | Enable Shade Control Group 3 | The switch can control shade control devices if this parameter is set to 1. | | 19 | LED Transmission Indication | LED mode while transmitting | | | Switch All Mode | Set the mode for the switch when receiving SWITCH ALL commands | ### Parameter 1: Dim Start Level Start dimming from that start level or current level A dimmer receiving this command will start dimming from that start level if this bit is set to 0. If the bit is set to 1, the dimmer will ignore the start level and instead start dimming from its current level. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Use Start Level | | 1 | Ignore Start Level | The manufacturer defined default value is ```1``` (Ignore Start Level). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_1_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 3: LED Indication The WD500Z-1 will flicker its LED when it is transmitting to any of its groups. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | LED ON - Switch ON | | 1 | LED ON - Switch OFF | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (LED ON - Switch ON). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_3_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 4: Invert Switch Reverse switch direction To change the top of the switch to OFF and the bottom to ON change parameter to 1. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Top-ON, Bottom-OFF | | 1 | Bottom-ON, Top-OFF | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (Top-ON, Bottom-OFF ). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_4_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. This is a read only parameter. ### Parameter 14: Enable Shade Control Group 2 The switch can control shade control devices if this parameter is set to 1 The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Disable | | 1 | Enable | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (Disable). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_14_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 15: Enable Shade Control Group 3 The switch can control shade control devices if this parameter is set to 1. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Disable | | 1 | Enable | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (Disable). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_15_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 19: LED Transmission Indication LED mode while transmitting The WD500Z-1 will flicker its LED when it is transmitting to any of its groups. Parameter set to 0 = not flicker Parameter set to 1 = flicker the entire time of transmitting Parameter set to 2 = flicker for only 1 second. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Disable Flicker | | 1 | Flicker while transmitting | | 2 | Flicker for 1 second | The manufacturer defined default value is ```2``` (Flicker for 1 second). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_19_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Switch All Mode Set the mode for the switch when receiving SWITCH ALL commands. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Exclude from All On and All Off groups | | 1 | Include in All On group | | 2 | Include in All Off group | | 255 | Include in All On and All Off groups | This parameter has the configuration ID ```switchall_mode``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ## Association Groups Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic. The WD500Z-1 supports 3 association groups. ### Group 1: Controller Association group 1 supports 5 nodes. ### Group 2: Double Tap Association group 2 supports 5 nodes. ### Group 3: Triple Tap Association group 3 supports 5 nodes. ## Technical Information ### Endpoints #### Endpoint 0 | Command Class | Comment | |---------------|---------| | COMMAND_CLASS_NO_OPERATION_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_BASIC_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_SWITCH_MULTILEVEL_V1| Linked to BASIC| | COMMAND_CLASS_SWITCH_ALL_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_SCENE_ACTIVATION_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_SCENE_ACTUATOR_CONF_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_CONFIGURATION_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_POWERLEVEL_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_ASSOCIATION_V1| | | COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION_V1| | ### Documentation Links * [User Manual](https://opensmarthouse.org/zwavedatabase/6/reference/WD500Z1-manual.pdf) --- Did you spot an error in the above definition or want to improve the content?
