--- layout: documentation title: ZEN15 - ZWave --- {% include base.html %} # ZEN15 Power Switch This describes the Z-Wave device *ZEN15*, manufactured by *[Zooz](http://www.getzooz.com/)* with the thing type UID of ```zooz_zen15_00_000```. The device is in the category of *Power Outlet*, defining Small devices to be plugged into a power socket in a wall which stick there. ![ZEN15 product image](https://www.cd-jackson.com/zwave_device_uploads/758/758_default.jpg) The ZEN15 supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is also able to participate in the routing of data between other devices in the mesh network. ## Overview Z-Wave Power Switch ### Inclusion Information **Please include the Power Switch to your network BEFORE connecting it to the appliance you wish to control.** ## Auto Z-Wave Inclusion 1. Put your Z-Wave controller into inclusion mode 2. Plug the Power Switch into a grounded receptacle located within direct range from your Z-Wave gateway controller 3. The LED indicator will start flashing blue, then turn blue (on) or pink (off) once included 4. A new on / off device will be recognized by your Z-Wave controller. ## Manual Z-Wave Inclusion 1. Plug the Power Switch into a grounded receptacle located within direct range from your Z-Wave gateway controller 2. Put your Z-Wave controller into inclusion mode 3. Press and release the Z-Wave button 3 TIMES QUICKLY 4. The LED indicator will start flashing blue, then turn blue (on) or pink (off) once included 5. A new on / off device will be recognized by your Z-Wave controller. ## Secure Z-Wave Inclusion 1. Plug the Power Switch into a grounded receptacle located within direct range from your Z-Wave gateway controller 2. Put your Z-Wave controller in secure inclusion mode 3. Press and HOLD the Z-Wave button for at least 3 seconds 4. The LED indicator will start flashing green, then turn blue (on) or pink (off) once included 5. A new secure on / off device will be recognized by your Z-Wave controller. ### Exclusion Information 1. Plug the Power Switch into a grounded receptacle located within direct range of your Z-Wave gateway controller. 2. Put your Z-Wave controller into exclusion mode. 3. Press and release the Z-Wave button 3 TIMES QUICKLY. 4. The LED indicator will start flashing orange, then turn blue (on) or pink (off) once excluded. 5. The Power Switch will disappear from your controller's device list. The LED indicator will remain solid orange for a few seconds to indicate exclusion. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, please repeat the process following all steps carefully. ### General Usage Information ## How to test Z-Wave network range for my Power Switch? You can easily check if the Power Switch is within your Z-Wave controller’s range: Press and hold the Z-Wave button for 6 to 9 seconds until the LED indicator turns violet. The LED indicator will then report signal strength. * Flashing green = direct communication with the primary controller is established and still being diagnosed  * Solid green for 2 seconds = direct communication with the primary controller is stable  * Flashing orange = direct communication with the primary controller is intermittent and being diagnosed  * Solid orange = communication quality is fair  * Solid red = communication with the primary controller has failed Press and release the Z-Wave button to exit testing mode. ## The LED indicator on your Power Switch will visually report power consumption and network range. The ```switch_binary``` channel supports the ```Switch``` item and is in the ```Switch``` category. ### Scene Number Triggers when a scene button is pressed. The ```scene_number``` channel supports the ```Number``` item. ### Electric meter (volts) Indicates the instantaneous voltage. The ```meter_voltage``` channel supports the ```Number``` item and is in the ```Energy``` category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device. ### Electric meter (amps) Indicates the instantaneous current consumption. The ```meter_current``` channel supports the ```Number``` item and is in the ```Energy``` category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device. ### Electric meter (kWh) Indicates the energy consumption (kWh). The ```meter_kwh``` channel supports the ```Number``` item and is in the ```Energy``` category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device. ### Electric meter (watts) Indicates the instantaneous power consumption. The ```meter_watts``` channel supports the ```Number``` item and is in the ```Energy``` category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device. ### Reset Meter Reset the meter. The ```meter_reset``` channel supports the ```Switch``` item and is in the ```Energy``` category. ## Device Configuration The following table provides a summary of the 10 configuration parameters available in the ZEN15. Overload protection will turn the Power Switch relay off once power exceeds 16.5A for over 5 seconds when this setting is enabled. We DO NOT recommend changing this parameter’s value as it may result in device damage and malfunction. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Disabled | | 1 | Enabled | The manufacturer defined default value is ```1``` (Enabled). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_20_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 21: On/Off Status Recovery After Power Failure Choose the recovery state for your Power Switch if power outage occurs. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Previous state | | 1 | On | | 2 | Off | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (Previous state). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_21_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 24: On/Off Status Change Notifications Send On/Off Status Change Notifications Your Power Switch will automatically send a notification to the controller and other associated devices if its status changes from on to off or the other way round. Choose when you want it to send the report. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Disabled | | 1 | Sends notification if changed manually or remotely | | 2 | Sends notification ONLY if changed manually | The manufacturer defined default value is ```1``` (Sends notification if changed manually or remotely). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_24_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 27: LED Indicator How the LED indicator displays power consumption. You can choose how the LED indicator displays power consumption on the Power Switch Values: 0 – LED indicator will display power consumption whenever the device is plugged in (LED stays on at all times – default setting); 1 – LED indicator will display the level of power consumption for 5 seconds only whenever the device is turned on or off (LED indicator will stay off for most of the time). Size: 1 byte dec. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Always On | | 1 | Momentary (at status change) | The manufacturer defined default value is ```0``` (Always On). This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_27_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 151: Power Report Value Threshold When to report power consumption to your controller Power Report Value Threshold Parameter 151: Choose how you want your Power Switch to report power consumption to your controller and associated devices. The number entered as value corresponds to the number of Watts the appliance needs to go over for the change to be reported. So if 50 Watts are entered by default, the Power Switch will report any change in power usage over 50 Watts (whether it’s at least 50 Watts more or 50 Watts less compared to previous report). Values: 0 – 65535; 0 – disabled (it will not report power consumption based on value change); 50 – default setting Size: 2 byte dec. Values in the range 0 to 65535 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```50```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_151_2``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 152: Power Report Percentage Threshold How to report power consumption to your controller by percentage rate Power Report Percentage Threshold Parameter 152: Choose how you want your Power Switch to report power consumption to your controller and associated devices by percentage rate. The number entered as value corresponds to the percentage in power usage change the appliance needs to go over for the event to be reported. So if 10% is entered by default, the Power Switch will report any change in power consumption over 10% (whether it’s at least 10% more or 10% less power consumption compared to previous report). Values: 0 – 255; 0 – disabled (it will not report power consumption based on percentage change); 10 – default setting Size: 1 byte dec. Values in the range 0 to 255 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```10```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_152_1``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 171: Power Report Frequency How often to report power consumption (W) to your controller Power Report Frequency Parameter 171: Choose how often you want your Power Switch to report power consumption (W) to your controller and associated device. The number entered as value corresponds to the number of seconds. So if 30 is entered by default, the Power Switch will report power consumption every 30 seconds. Values: 5 – 2678400; 0 – disabled (it will not report power consumption); 30 – default setting Size: 4 byte dec Values in the range 0 to 2678400 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```30```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_171_4``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 172: Energy Report Frequency How often to report energy usage (KWH) to your controller Energy Report Frequency Parameter 172: Choose how often you want your Power Switch to report energy usage (KWH) to your controller and associated device. The number entered as value corresponds to the number of seconds. So if 300 is entered by default, the Power Switch will report energy usage every 300 seconds (5 minutes). Values: 5 – 2678400; 0 – disabled (it will not report energy usage); 300 – default setting Size: 4 byte dec. Values in the range 0 to 2678400 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```300```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_172_4``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 173: Voltage Report Frequency How often to report voltage (V) to your controller Voltage Report Frequency Parameter 173: Choose how often you want your Power Switch to report voltage (V) to your controller and associated device. The number entered as value corresponds to the number of seconds. Values: 5 – 2678400; 0 – disabled (default – it will not report voltage levels) Size: 4 byte dec. Values in the range 0 to 2678400 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```0```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_173_4``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Parameter 174: Electricity Report Frequency How often to report levels of electrical current (A) to your controller Electricity Report Frequency Parameter 174: Choose how often you want your Power Switch to report levels of electrical current (A) to your controller and associated device. The number entered as value corresponds to the number of seconds. Values: 5 – 2678400; 0 – disabled (default – it will not report electrical current levels) Size: 4 byte dec. Values in the range 0 to 2678400 may be set. The manufacturer defined default value is ```0```. This parameter has the configuration ID ```config_174_4``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ### Switch All Mode Set the mode for the switch when receiving SWITCH ALL commands. The following option values may be configured -: | Value | Description | |--------|-------------| | 0 | Exclude from All On and All Off groups | | 1 | Include in All On group | | 2 | Include in All Off group | | 255 | Include in All On and All Off groups | This parameter has the configuration ID ```switchall_mode``` and is of type ```INTEGER```. ## Association Groups Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.
